A well-known marketing guru once said:
“Your online business is competing for attention” and I thought to myself: “Hmm. If I do this thing right, I can “buy” attention with paid ads”.
What your business is actually competing for is to KEEP the attention.
I want to share with you the four tweaks I do for my clients to attract and keep attention. To make your audience take action and increase your course sales overnight.
1. Add an Evergreen Countdown
An evergreen countdown is a timer people will see when they first visit your course sales page. On that visit, they are “tagged”. On their re-visit of the course page, after the timer hits zero, they will see a higher price for the course.
These are amazing! They create urgency and attract only serious people who will commit to you and your course. All the top marketers use this and, trust me, you should too.
Forget about the voice in your head telling you “ugh I hate them timers, they are annoying and pushy”
People online need urgency. I’ll say it again: you are competing with funny videos and PORN! They need to take action before they stray away.
Remember the people who buy your course will be people who will
- be future testimonials
- be ambassadors for your brand
- buy from you again and again
Give them the push they need to take action!
2. Add an experience
Everyone nowadays is selling info product. Heck, one time on my feed, I saw a course called: Society, Science, Survival: Lessons from AMC’s “The Walking Dead”. It was being offered by the Canvas.net. The course is no longer available, but I was able to screenshot the ad.
People are not buying info products anymore. This is dying! You will no longer make money selling and info only / pre-recorded product.
Creating information products in today’s age = opening a video store in the age of Netflix.
Top marketers selling successful online courses include some live experience in it. The same for my clients, too. Things like a free ticket to a live event, live coaching calls, unlimited email support, etc.
Adding someone to a private Facebook is NOT an experience. Let’s be real – it’s becoming a dumping ground the majority of the time.
I’m working on an online product myself. I am creating Funnel Kits. These will be for people to set up a proven, high converting funnel without tech overwhelm. Including step-by-step training, showing how to put the funnel in place. With this, you can have your very own custom funnel in no time.
The way I’m planning to “experiencify” this is by adding the following bonuses.
- a strategy/funnel mapping session before someone begins the training
- 3 “lifeline” calls for when you get stuck with the tech
- Free advanced FB Ad setup for those who finish and actually create their funnel
See, when I add this, people will be engaging with a real person. Feeling like they can succeed and it’s not going to be another “useless” course they bought.
I am also encouraging completion of my course with a bonus that’s only for people who finish. In turn, my course will have high completion rates and more people will be open to buy from me again at a higher price. Because they received the value AND succeeded.
This is how top online marketers make the big money! Follow what works.
3. Create a Lead Magnet that your audience will drool for
Every time I go through my feed I get targeted with tons of “lead magnets”. Sometimes wondering “What the heck were you thinking?!”
My goal is to stop you from being one of those people and actually get your audience to download your lead magnets.
Here’s what you do: Make sure your lead magnet can give your audience an instant win right after they read it.
I have a student who’s a mom mentor and wanted to create a lead magnet called 3 Reasons Why Your Kids Act Clingy. That’s good, but I want her to be great! I want her to think like a marketer.
I asked her: “Is that what moms really want to know?” No, they don’t want to know the reason; THEY WANT A SOLUTION! And they want a quick solution they can apply.
I then said: “Let’s flip it around. What if you create something that can give a mom a win on the same day she reads it?” I asked her: “What’s the one thing moms would love to do today, at this very moment?” She said: “Probably take a hot shower in peace”. That was music to my ears! So, we came up with a title: Here are THE activities I have my 5 kids do so I can take a shower in peace.
You can use checklists, toolkits, cheat sheets, templates, swipe files or anything that is a quick and easy.
4. Sell Your Course Through a Masterclass
I don’t like using the word webinar anymore. I like “Masterclass”. It’s not YET overused and I’m seeing higher registrations when using that versus Webinar.
Now that that’s out of the way, for those of you who are like me and hate the idea of selling during a webinar/masterclass. Here’s what one of my mentors is doing and it is GENIOUS!
He has an invitation to a masterclass right after someone downloads his lead magnet.
But not only that, the masterclass is a very simple walkthrough of your lead magnet with a little extra info.
For example, someone downloads the Lead Magnet we discussed in the previous section. Now, Here’s THE activities I have my kids do so I can take a shower and in peace.
Imagine now if they see a thank you page telling them:
Your download is on the way, whilst you wait, join me for the 5 ways to have 30 minutes, 1 hour or even a full weekend to yourself – while the kids are busy learning and playing, and the hubby is actually completing the honey-do list.
So, after the quick training/masterclass, you talk about a “one-time” offer for your course and the amazing “experience” bonuses you have. Then, tell them to go to your sales page (which will now have an evergreen timer) and “puff” your sales for your website went through the roof.
